PATTOM THANU PILLAI MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Pattom Thanu Pillai Memorial college of Education was started in 2006 for conducting B.Ed courses.. The motto of the PTM group of Institution is “Popularization of Education among the Downtrodden and bring them at par with the rest of the world and in general to help social uplift”. The college is affiliated to Kerala University and is recognized by the National Council of Teacher Education.  

The campus of the college is situated 18 kms south of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. The campus also accommodates a Primary School, High School, a Higher Secondary School, Vocational Higher Secondary School and a Teachers Training Institute. It is a vast campus with open grounds and flowering trees.

The PTM group of Institutions was started by Sri. Kottukal Dhamodharan Pillai in Honour of Sri. Pattom Thanu Pillai, a great leader and the former Chief Minister of Kerala State. The group had its humble beginning with a Primary School in 1976, which was upgraded as a High School in 1984 and as a Vocational Higher Secondary School in 1995. In 2006 Pattom Thanu Pillai Memorial College of Education was established for conducting the B.Ed. course with seven optional subjects affiliated to the University of Kerala. The Institution was recognized by the NCTE in that year itself. Now it has developed into a full fledged Teacher Education Institution catering the needs of student community all over Kerala.

  • Develop relevant teacher competencies and proper commitment among prospective

teachers to maximize their teacher performance.

  • Promote quality enhancement in education by organizing seminars, workshops,

conferences, publications and exhibitions.

  • Serve the community by means of extension and sharing of resources to sister

institutions..

  • Provide quality teacher education for financially and educationally backward students.
  • Develop a value system among the teaching community based on culture of the nation,

democracy and socialism.
